As we all know, the Kapolei area is a rapidly growing community with generous love and support. The people of Kapolei take pride in their so called “second city,” and our league is no exception. The Makakilo-Kapolei Youth Baseball League (MKYBL) has been around since the late 80’s.
MKYBL is a competitive league that is meant to be very instructional as well as fun. Kids between the ages of 5-14 can learn and play baseball in a safe and supportive environment. Parents who grew up in the area who played in this league are now giving back to the community and are coaches themselves. Parents who didn’t grow up in the area are also coaching and helping out with equal amounts of passion.
The MKYBL is a league sanctioned by P.O.N.Y (Protect our Nations Youth) rules on the national level. Youngsters learn how to pitch from the stretch and take leads off of bases from the Mustang division (9-10 year olds). Because of this early learning they are ready when they advance to the high school level. Players practice 2-3 times a week depending on the division they are playing in. Practice fields vary between divisions, but can all be found within a few miles of the Kapolei/Makakilo area.
The MKYBL welcomes all boys and girls who are interested in the game of BASEBALL.
